Born Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri on March 15th 1942, Hossein's younger years saw him being a body guard and an amateur wrestler.
In was amateur wrestling that took him to the Olympics multiple times as a coach.
1972 saw Hossein move from amateur wrestling and onto professional wrestling. Training with Ric Flair at Verne Gagne's camp, he soon became a well known name in AWA, JCP, Mid South, WWF and more as The Iron Sheik.
It was in WWE that The Iron Sheik became most famous, defeating Bob Backland for the WWF World Title in 1983, although it would be short title reign as he would lose the title to Hulk Hogan - thus starting Hulkamania.
The Iron Sheik would appear on and off for WWF for the rest of his life, and also appearing at conventions/signings. He would also appear in "shoot interviews" which are hilarious.
Hossein was also an actor, made appearances for shows like Jerry Springer and had his own documentary, titled "The Sheik".
Hossein Vaziri died at his home in Fayetteville, Georgia, on June 7, 2023, at the age of 81.
