Wayne "Static" Wells - November 4th 1965 – November 1st 2014

Wayne Richard Wells, better known to music fans as "Wayne Static" was born on November 4th 1965 in Muskegon, Michigan.

In the late eighties, Wayne moved to Chicago and playing in a band with future Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and future Static X drummer Ken Jay in Deep Blue Dream.

Wayne (guitar/vocals) and Ken (drums) would go on to form Static-X with Tony Campos on bass and Koichi Fukuda on guitar. This is when Wayne started going by Wayne Static.

Wayne was fondly known for his hairstyle, spiked up.

Static-X toured all over the world, had 6 albums and featured on many soundtracks.

The band would eventually dissolve and Wayne would perform in his side project, Pighammer.

Wayne died on November 1st 2014 due to an apparent drug overdose.

The remaining members of Static-X would come together a few years later and tour in memory of Wayne with a new "unnamed" singer, Xero.

On January 13, 2016, Static's widow, Tera Wray, died from an apparent suicide.

In 2020, the band released Project Regeneration Vol. 1, taking outtakes of studio recording and demos that Wayne had worked on.

EDITORS NOTE:

I managed to catch Static-X on their tour with Xero, it was a great show and they paid tribute to Wayne many times during the concert.
