Darrell Lance Abbott was born on August 20th 1996 in Ennis, Texas. His father Jerry and brother Vincent were also involved in the music business.
Darrell liked to play guitar at an early age, winning his first competition at the age of 14.
"Dimebag" would become Darrell's nickname, Vincent would go under the name "Vinnie Paul".
The brothers formed the band Pantera and would record 9 albums. Dimebag would also add guitar parts on songs by other artists such as Nickelback, Sebastian Bach and more.
After the breakup of Pantera, the bothers would form a new metal group, Damageplan.
Damageplan had just taken to the stage on December 8th 2004 in Columbus, Ohio when Nathan Gale got on the stage and shot Dimebag multiple times, killing him. Nathan killed 5 people and injured 3. He was shot dead at the scene.
Darrell's long time partner has kept him memory alive ever since, arranging charity events, putting together videos and more.
